The Balcony honored with three awards at World Luxury Restaurant Awards
The Balcony has made it clear to most of us that they are one of Denmark’s best restaurants. This weekend was no exception. The famous Danish restaurant won three awards at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards – including the award for Best Gourmet Cuisine in Europe.
Saturday was a great evening for Anders Jensen and Peter Steen Hansen, kitchen managers and owners of the gourmet restaurant The Balcony. They participated in the award ceremony for the World Luxury Restaurant Awards, which was held Saturday at the luxurious Galgorm Resort & Spa near Ballymena in Northern Ireland.
The Balcony won the awards for Global Winner Danish Cusine, Best Fine Dining Western Europe and Best Gourmet Cuisine in Europe.
“It means so much for us to be recognized outside the world and not only in the small city Odense where we are located,” says Anders.
He also says that at the restaurant they can feel the attention they receive – especially when they were favorite to get the first Michelin star to the small Danish island Fyn. Unfortunately they were not honored with a Michelin Star this year.
At the restaurant which is also mention in White Guide, the menues follow the year and they use the best ingredients for the season. The keywords are top service, seasonal ingredients, carefully composed menus and organic food as a priority.
It is not easy for Anders to answer what exactly is the key to their great success.
“We work as a family of six very dedicated people who are always together, also when we do not work. It makes it much more personal, and I just think it all goes up to a higher level, and that’s what makes the difference”, he says.
